We have two boys, whom we absolutely love and adore. Our little family is nice and tidy in a world, as a friend once rightly pointed out, that is made for four. But sometimes it seems a little too nice and tidy, especially after spending time with the family we recently had the privilege of photographing. Brandon and Kim have four children under the age of six – it was a little crazy, a bit chaotic, but a ton of fun!
We received a special treat on our last summer session of 2014. Stephanie serenaded us with classical guitar music as we photographed her at Ute Valley Park, creating an idyllic scene that was rounded out by the appearance of a deer hopping through the tall grass (really). After her performance, Stephanie strapped her guitar to her back and walked the trail for a few final pictures. We noticed she was nodding her head rhythmically as she went.
"Do you hear music in your head?"
"Yes." she replied. Perhaps she was hearing summer's finale—we were happy just to see it.
Not only were able to photograph this lovely young woman's senior portraits, but we were able to do so at Glen Eyrie, the beautiful and exclusive castle residence set among the red rocks just north of Garden of the Gods. It's like being told you get to eat premium chocolates...at Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory. Except nobody's getting carted away by squirrels or blowing up into huge blueberries. Okay, bad analogy, but you get it, right? Magic happened. Thanks to Kassidy and her mom Kelli for letting us be a part of it!
As a photographer, sometimes you have to coax people out of their shells a little. You know...help them to relax in front of the camera.
Not Trent.
With him, it was more like one of those westerns where a cowboy is trying to stop the wagon that threw its driver..."whoa there--I say WHHHOOOAAA!"
Confident? Yes. And why not? Star baseball player, senior class president, thespian (go see him in Guys and Dolls this November at TCA). No shells here people--just a multi-talented young man who was a whole lot of fun to shoot!
Had the pleasure of attending another amazing workshop taught (excellently) by Hope from Hope Ann Photography! Many thanks also to our amazing couple, Laura and Tyler--it was great to meet you!
